It's a New Day

Psalm 118:24 NLT

This is the day the Lord has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it.

Without letting go of yesterday there's no way to live in today. There's a lot of ways, consciously and subconsciously, in which we can allow past experiences, pains and scenarios tie us up and prevent us from moving forward into our desired destination and goals.

The ropes of regret around our wrists tug at our potential boldness, preventing us from reaching out to new experiences. The hurt associated with bad relationships keep our ankles bound to circumstances we can't change and rob us of love we so eagerly desire. Some ropes from our past have been holding us back for so long that we've grown comfortable with them wrapped around our waist, our legs, our necks.

Change is painful but yet it's the key to releasing the ropes of prevention from our past. It's not that people can't change, it's that they won't. Only when the pain of staying the same outweighs the pain it would take to change do people actually embrace it.

What things need to change in your life in order for you to live in today and not be held back anymore? Maybe there are things holding you back you didn't even know about, things you've grown so accustomed to that you've forgotten were there.

Like David prayed, "Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. Point out anything in me that offends you, and lead me down the path of everlasting life." (Psalm 139:23-24 NLT)

Open up to the Lord and allow Him to shine a light into the corners of your heart. Think about where you want to be and where you are. What needs to change? What is the Lord saying to you? Spend time with Him and record your thoughts and prayers in a journal.

Remember, it's a new day--a day the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it.
